Internet

The internet is composed of large number of a smaller interconnected networks these networks link
hundred thousands of computer enabling them to share information with each other and to share
various resources

It is a set of program standards and protocols governing the way in which multimedia information
are created and displayed on the internet

Internet terminology

There are multiple internet terminology:

Client:

Any computer on the network that request services from the another computer on the internet

Server:

Any computer that receive request from client computer and processes and send the output

Web page:

Digital documents hosted on internet

Website:

A collection of interconnected web pages

Webportal:

A website that offers a broad area of resources such as email, man, Yahoo,etc.

Web browser:

A program or software on client computer that retrieves information from the web.

Web client:

A web client is a program or a component on the client side that request and uses services provided
by the web server

URL:

It is a unique address of web page on internet.

E-mail:

Email stands for electronic mail it is most widely used tool to send messages electronically.

Web server:

It is a computer that stores website on the Internet and deliver the web pages to the previous after
request it is also called www server.

Components of website:

• Web hosting
• Address
• Design
• Content

Hypertext:

It refers to  digital text which is more than just text as it can include information in various media
format.

Hyperlink:

It refers to a link from hypertext file to another such file.

Blogs:

A  blog is a kind of website the term blog is shorthand form of weblog the owner of the blog write
on the blog and known as blogger the activity of updating or writing the block is called blogging.

Types of blog:

• Personal blog
• News and views
• Company blogs
• Micro blogs

News group:

A newsgroup aur forum is a file like a community bulletin board you can post message reply to a
message or just read messages.

HTML:

The world wide web is an exciting new medium bringing information, images, advertising, etc HTML
was invented in 1990 by Tim berners-lee.

Protocols:

A protocol is a system of rules that defines how something is to be done in computer terminology a
protocol is usually and agreed upon or standardised method for transmitting data between different
devices.

HTTP:

It is system for transfer in information over internet without security feature.

HTTPS:

What is another text exchange protocol that has a full form as hypertext transfer protocol secure https
used for sensitive information shared over internet such as financial data or information personal
details or bank details.
